Knot Dance

Première at Alytus Biennial the 27th of August, 2005.

Before the performance, the audience are given small bags with a marble inside. At the performance, two very long ropes are unfolded and make loops around sand castles. At the same time we burn the rope parts lying down. As we pass the castles, we dig up metal pieces and attach them to our bodies with bandage. At a central point, the two ropes meet around another sand castle. There we liberate the pieces from each other and together build up an angel chimes installation, light the candles and it begins to play. We make new loops with the remaining rope, within which we place more small bags containing marbles. On top of them, we build new sand castles.
